loosing faith… I need a new perspective.

The whole thought that someone loves you unconditionally and there is an afterlife that is amazing compared to this world filled with suffering is great. Who doesn’t want to believe that we have purpose to our lives and there is still more amazing things to come? It’s just… I can’t believe it. I was raised in Christianity. There is just so many flaws in it that I can’t contemplate that there is a God out there that is so selfish. I mean, He puts on this earth to suffer so that we can become closer to him. He “tests” us? I just don’t get it. If I love someone I’m not going to put them in a position where they suffer just so I can see if they really love me or not. That’s psychotic and completely selfish! I really need a new perspective on life and what it means. I want to believe in something but right now everything doesn’t make sense.

It’s not uncommon for people who have begun to explore their spirituality side to suddenly begin questioning the path they have chosen to travel in their lives. I am growing in the same environment, a faith based household. Most people are programmed with certain worldviews and patterns for living by the families who raised them and the communities in which they grew up. For better or for worse, we are taught to chase dreams and beliefs already set out for us. As well as fulfilling expectations put upon our lives. What we realize sometimes that it isn't the path for us, instead it's someone else's. However, once we reach the point of questioning and begin to see our lives in the context of the big picture, we have arrived at a great opportunity. From this point we leave the mold someone else shaped for us and begin to define our own meaning that no one else can do for you. If you want to truly attract that life that you dream of, now is the time to start making it real. Start to manifest it. Set aside a space where you can sit quietly and not be disturbed. Allow yourself to visualize the life you want, let yourself embrace this dream and get a real sense of how it makes you feel. Make a note to bring this feeling into your life in some way or another every day. Personally in my life, God gives his battles to his toughest soldiers. It's a matter of self acknowledgement that defines us as a person.

I will just say this, I am not a religious person at all I guess if anything I'm inbetween agnostic and atheist, putting that aside I do find religions interesting I've studied quite a few and the different theories are just fascinating to me. I did grow up Catholic but my parents were never really pushy with it and I can't say that I've ever had a relationship with god. With pertaining to what happens to a person when they die I believe that people should find the coping mechanism that they are most comfortable with accepting. Myself I do believe in some sort of afterlife. Not some heaven or hell situation but just something else, and if not that then nothing at all, we die and cease to exist, but that isn't so bad either. Think of it as a dreamless sleep. But, since I can't say much about their being intelligent creation something that I can say is that the true testament of someone's character is how they survive when the going gets rough. We have all been sorry, we have all been hurt, we have all suffered, we have all cried but how we survive is what makes us who we are. Imagine if everything in our lives were just picture perfect, wouldn't you take it for granted if everything turned out the way it was supposed to? Don't we need contrast so we can taste the sweetness of happiness? Would happiness even exist if there were no sadness? Like I said, I'm not religious but I'm respectful of people's opinions so just know that you aren't at wrong if you believe in God or not, adopt your own worldview at life. Something that I've learned is that every person in their lifetime has to answer these fundamental questions: 1. where did we come from? 2. what if anything is wrong with the world? 3. How do you fix the wrong with the world, the solution to that. 4. What brings everlasting happiness? 5. What is the purpose of a human beings life? 6. What is the ultimate basis of reality and 7. what happens to a human when they die? Basically these questions can be answered by religions, hence why people adopt them since they agree, but you can always adopt your own way of living. Whatever makes you happiest is what you should pursue, not because you grew into that mindset but because you want to believe that mindset. Anyway I wish you the best of luck. Have a good one.

These times suck. It's like falling out of love and breaking up, there feels like there is a hole in you. Certainty is replaced by doubt. Love is replaced by emptiness. The burden of existence hits home and suddenly you are all alone in the Universe.

It is no a curse. It is its own blessing. It means you have made a choice, and whether it is the right one is open to interpretation. That said, I think it is. You have chosen a potentially painful truth, and that is admirable, at the very least. No matter what you choose from here, go with the Truth. Be prosperous in your endeavors.

when i was 16, i came to a preacher to ask him questions like this, and he said that wanting answers meant i had doubts, and doubts came from the devil, and i had to pray more. i am grateful to him because this clearly bullshit logic was the perfect wake-up call for me to start exploring what other branches of christianity and other religions have to say about higher justice, the meaning of life, and what happens after death. it's a good path you're on, even though a scary one in the beginning. you're not alone. good luck to you; never stop asking questions.

Well try to look at it this way. If all the suffering in the world ceased to exist or did not happen in the first place, then do you really believe that we would come to appreciate anything? If you are steadfast in your belief in God then ask yourself, "Would I have been able to really thank God for anything if I had not gone through some trial in my life, of if I had not seen someone else go through a trial in their life?"

Either God loves us without condition, or God tests us. Both can't be true, so you've been taught a self-contradictory system. That doesn't mean all of it is totally false.

I suggest you pick out the parts you like, and forget the parts you don't. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! Humans have a tendency to take a clear message and jumble it up when they pass it along. The parts of any religion which feel right to you, or resonate with you, are the clear message that you should heed (if you need me to tell you that). The parts that seem offputting or two-faced were probably made up by silly people and thrown in the mix at some point.

Studying different religions can give you more inspiration to choose from. But know that you CAN create your own religion, any way you like. And in my opinion, you should, because there's no more active way of getting involved.

I think you should think a little deeper. Make sure you understand the difference between tests, temptations and trials. When we speak about God, you should understand that God doesn't "test" you. Saying that would mean he is putting a possibility for you to fail. God, however, allows us to go through TRIALS which help us grow stronger in faith, and he never allows you to go through something that is above your power or too much for you to handle. We also need to understand that there is another force on our world too, the devil. The devil puts obstacles and TEMPTATIONS in front of us all the time to try to get us away from God and distract us from our main purpose. The closer you get to God, the harder the obstacles you face. Remember that God wants to build you up, not let you fail. Embrace his love and get closer to him. If you have any other questions related to spirituality do not hesitate to discuss them with me. Have a blessed day everybody :)
