right now I think it's probably best if you ignore your feelings and care for your friend, if they have been together for a long time, the last thing your friend would want is to find out that you like the ex and are dating, it would probably hurt more. Plus she may start to think you got in between them. You might want to give it some time before you ever make a move on him, and maybe ask your friend before if it would hurt her, since we all know friends come before relationships.
