Is it okay for me to have feelings for someone who can’t return them?

This person I’ve been getting close with have been on dates, and just when things were about to become a relationship he tells me he “can’t” be with me. I just don’t get why he would make it seem like he has feelings for me, then when I get them for him (I rarely catch feelings), he ends things. Is it alright to still have feelings for him?

Yes it is alright to still have feelings for him, after all you did think things were going to get serious. But don't let that cloud your regular activity with things, if he "can't" then ask him why not? It's a bit ambiguous to say that you just can't and not have a legitimate reason for it. Talk to him and keep talking till you have an answer, but don't let it get to you.
