Is everyone a hedonist?

For whose benefit do you live your life? your own? Everyone I have met so far would have to answer yes to that question. Perhaps I’m deceiving myself in thinking that I am somehow different, but do any others claim to be? This question is of personal interest to me. I feel like I am only cared for and appreciated when I can be used to catalyze the happiness of other people, and when my use has expired, so has the relationship. Any hope you could give me in this regard would be appreciated.

Sounds like you're talking about co-dependence.

I have a feeling that we have all felt like this from time to time. And yes you are right, many people do take their friends for granted and for their own personal gain. Both with knowing and without. I bet if you were to look back, even you have possibly done this. Maybe not on purpose, but possibly without even realizing what you were doing. I do believe personally in the good of others and that many people are willing to help others, especially their friends. However I also know that many people will, if given the chance, exploit each other in order to get something they desire and also of the blissful ignorance that many people have of their own actions. But like I've said, if given the option, many people would at least attempt to help a friend in need or stick by someone that they cared about.

I can't hang out with older people. My confidence is shot to crap right now. I can barely talk to my bosses at work when I'm asking them what projects they need me to do.
