How to keep up with trends?

I have heard of Breaking Bad when they announced the last season, heard of Game of Thrones last year, same with How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead, Firefly, etc.
I don’t know the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody, Hey Jude, etc.
Frozen seemed like a children movie to me. Same with Despicable Me.
.
I’m really far from everyone, I have trouble joining conversations because I’m so culturally weak compared to others.
I mean, I’m watching plenty of shows, but almost none of my friends even knows them:
Sleepy Hollow, Under the Dome, The Flash, Arrow, Heroes, Jericho, Flashforward, …
And I discover artists no one has heard of. And I go watch movies people don’t speak of.
.
Am I just disconnected from reality? How can I remediate to that?

Each person has a different taste. Clearly you have a different taste than your friends. It's not because they like a certain song or a movie that you should feel obligated to follow them in that. It's okay to be who you are. There will always be people who have a different taste as well. Not everyone follows the general crowd. You're not disconnected from reality, you simply have a different taste. Some people might talk about certain movies etc, just because others do and they try to fit in with them. Why try to fit in when you can be exceptional? Be who you are and be proud of yourself. You like what you like and that's perfectly fine.

As said you seem to be disconnected with what’s “in”, you can be a sheep and fallow them or be yourself, of course there will be consequences like not being in tuned with the majority but you will keep your originality in return , its really up to you and what your looking for...

It's good that you don't stick with the crowd. It shows that you are more independent and aren't doing things to seek validation. However, there's a difference between watching a show because it is popular and watching a show because everyone else is. If you truly want to watch something popular, listen to a mainstream artist, etc. because people are saying that it's good, go for it. If you watch an episode or two, or listen to a song and it doesn't spark your interest, move on to something else. Over all, try these things just for you, and no one else.
