How to control anxiety?

1

I’ve been sick for a couple of months and doing alot of medical exams, and the doctors say I have the Syndrom of Irritable Colon (I apologise if I ‘m spelling this wrong- english is not my 1ºlanguage). The thing is, I can’t get anxious or stressed, at least it’s what they told me. But it’s super hard for me to control it. Even a super small thing triggers my anxiety. I’ve been this way since I was little. I have no idea how to control it.
Does anyone one know any daily exercises or any hobbies that could help me with this?
Any help is welcome. Thank you

Meditation & breathing exercises can help, exercise, visualizations, a mantra that will help you calm down, essential oils, a worry stone or some other small object you can play with...just some ideas. Hope that helps!

I usually sing a song (in my head). For me, its "Hey Jude" by the Beatles ('cause I love them!), or some other song by them. Some people need to do something with their hands (I twirl pencils through my fingers, and I'm getting pretty good at it - Sometimes I draw - Well, doodle really), just something to get their mind of what's causing their anxeity. As long as your not harming yourself (cutting, pulling hair, even mentally scolding yourself isn't recommended), I'd say whatever "hobby" you do is okay.

Never thought of that, I'll give it a try! :)

Any tasks that take your mind completely off what your anxious about. It can be something as simple as counting the stripes on the road if you're in the car, or yoga or counting down from 100 and visualizing the numbers. Google "grounding techniques" as well. There are tons of other things you can do!

Help people here on blah... Because whenever I'm anxious about things: health, career, and so on.. I'm always looking forward of helping someone by sharing my thoughts regarding the topic. But if you're passionate about art, draw something, write something, search something, or listen to your favorite tracks. :)

My son has anxiety issues. (He is 9) was told to try one of those white noise machines. They have different calming noises. Like a crackling fire, waterfall, etc....not a cure but a huge difference to get him to relax.

Just let the fear happen, when you try to fight it, it just makes it worse. Accept what you are feeling, ride it through and the more you do this the less fearful you will become. For instance, suppose someone wants to start a fight with you so every day they yell at you, most of the time they want a response, for you to fight them, but you don't, you just let them yell all they want. Of course they will get bored eventually and just go away. You would have dealt with that person by not engaging them in a fight and you will have won.
