How do I tell my mom I want to move out?

0

I am 18 years old, I have a child he is 4 months old, I am a full time employee and full time student. My boyfriend and I are currently living with my mom. My mom doesn’t really like my boyfriend too much, she wants him gone and for me to stay. I’m near my breaking point with my mom and her lack of respect for my relationship and me. I’m afraid to tell her that I want to move out, but I know the time is near for me to move out and continue on with my life.

Moving out can be stressful on both you and your mother. You are old enough now for her to understand that you and your family need your own space. Enlighten her that she will always be your mom, if you live in her house or not. With the lack of respect she has toward your boyfriend, I think that happens a lot with in laws. She'll have to learn to love him if he is going to stick around.

You're already an adult, let your mother know that. Parents almost never want to let their kids go, so you might have to come out with your intentions hard. Moving out doesn't mean you'd be out of her life for good, you would still be able to visit your mother: Let her know this too.
