How do I stop thinking negatively and keep friends?

0

What I mean by asking that question is how do I keep friends and not think negatively about them. There are friends that I have that are busy with family life and stuff, and I think that they just don’t want to hang out with me…. then I think that some of my friends hate me for some reason.

Because of this, I start distancing myself from them. Has anyone experienced this and could give me some advice on how to fix this? I don’t want to lose my friends because of some reason that is not true and by thinking negatively about them.

Thank you for providing advice/ feedback if you did. :) I appreciate it.

Hello Samantha,

I understand the feelings you have. I have a few different groups of friends whom have families and once that happens things change. When you're young you all have a lot of free time and drive to party and be social. Kids or relationship obligations can take precedent over partying and there isn't anything wrong with that. I know it can feel like you're being put on the back burner but your friends are just pursuing their happiness.

I think being happy in yourself is not taking things too personally. My friends partying and social life has slowed down not just with regards to me but everything. It isn't like they are going out, just not with me. My friends don't get much of a chance to go out much anymore.

How do you fix it? Well you have to accept it I suppose. Your friends don't have anything against you but their priorities have changed. I understand what you mean by distancing yourself. Sometimes you just want to be called up and invited to things? One of my circle of friends has a guy that won't come out to things if we miss inviting him to an event. He will shun the group and not talk to anyone for weeks. Then we invite/beg him to come out and he does... has a good time and everything is great again. We have learned this about the guy and since we still love him we sorta just deal with it. You may have to communicate your feelings with your friends if they don't pick up on this... of course this all hinges on the fact that I'm right in my hypothesis.

There is no way you can stop other than making and telling yourself to stop. No body can control your thoughts other than yourself!
