How do I know if i’m sad enough to go see a doctor in order to find out if i have depression?

I’ve been feeling quite low for about 5-6 months now. But i don;t constantly feel like this, sometimes I’m actually quite happy. I think the main reason I feel like this is because I’m lonely but I want to figure out why else I may be feeling like this too.

There is no level of sadness you have to have to go get checked for depression. If you feel like it's a possibility and you are unsure and want to find out, then that's all it takes. They aren't going to turn you away if you aren't sad enough. Depression is more than just sadness. I would say since you're already thinking about getting checked out, go ahead and do it. It can't hurt to find out what's going on.

Hey. I was like you all of my life happy, sad, okay and repeat. I recently went to a therapist and it was amazing. People think you have to be mentally disturbed or suicidal to see a therapist and you don't. My brother started seeing a therapist at 5 and still sees one at 12 and he's like happiest person in my family. Sometimes you simply want to talk. Maybe laugh and cry too. A therapist is for anyone who's willing to bring out whatever their feeling at the time both good and bad. I suggest that you see one. Their really good people. Please keep me updated and you can contact me anytime ☺

Is not necesary to reach a level. You can go see a doctor just for advice. Sometimes the doctor can give you a solution and a diagnosis (Is it correctly written?) Don't be afraid or embarrased to go see a doctor is normal looking for help to somebody that knows a lot about the topic!
