How can I go on birth control without parental consent?

0

My parents have made it very clear that they don’t want me having sex at this age. I’m 17, but I am in a serious relationship and we are sexually active. This is something I know couldn’t tell my parents, but I really need to go on birth control. I hate not feeling 100% safe everytime we have sex (even though we generally use condoms) I don’t think I could ask my mom to go on birth control even if I said it was for my period, because I already tried that 2 years ago and her response was, “I don’t want you going on that because then it’s giving you permission to have sex whenever you want” And if I asked now, I think the reason behind it would be pretty obvious.

Is there a certain age you have to be to get it on your own? Should I go to my family doctor alone, or a walk in clinic? And how would I be able to pay for it without them billing my house or anything?

You may be able to find free birth control through Planned Parenthood, if there is a clinic in your area. Also, condoms are generally given out for free at places like the Health Department or public health outlets. I'm sorry your mom is so closed about the subject...I hope my kids know I'd much rather they ask me for BC when they need it than run the risk of an unplanned pregnancy. I'm sure you've had the speech, but condoms will be safer all around at preventing things like STDs (although, it's a tad late for that, I guess). Good luck!

Any physician will prescribe birth control to a patient who is suffering from irregular periods and cramping. Most clinics at the age of 16 no longer require a parental consent for birth control. All you have to do is get there and explain your circumstances.

Just be warned that being on birth control and using condoms is not 100% effective. You can still have an accidental pregnancy. Be sure to follow all of the directions and doctors instructions.

You should have sex whenever you want, but also you should have protection Allways. I dont know where you live, but a lot of places give out condoms just for free, search it out around your zone. Ginecologist that you can visit for free or just your family doctor, he wont be able to talk about that to your family if you dont give consent.

Planned Parenthood can get you birth control. I went in, told them I did not have a job or any money (which was true at the time), and they gave me a card to get free services for a year, including birth control, and my family never found out. They have a variety of different types and can talk you through what would be best for you and your body type. Best of luck!
