I'm 16 too, and it is only three years difference, which i personally don't see as a problem. In the UK its legal to have sex and what not from the age of 16, anything younger is seen as abuse if the other person is older than 16 even if the younger person gives consent. Don't know if that is the same for other countries??
Emotionally speaking; no.
Legally speaking, depending on your country; yes or no.
For some perspective, I'm only 22, and I'm dating a 28 year old guy, that's twice the difference you have. You can't help who you fall in love with, imo.
In legal terms...there me be complications if the relationship is physical. Is there anything wrong with that? Not at all! Love is love, no matter what you sexuality, age, or gender is. It's perfectly fine to be in love with someone who is many years older than you.
It's illegal depending on which state you live in. However it's only illegal if the two of you engage in intercourse- That would make him a statutory rapist, which isn't worth risking it. He would permanently have it on his criminal record. That being said, it's not illegal for you two to date or be in love, just be careful to have a strictly platonic relationship until the 16 year old is of legal age. To find out what the age is in your state, just search "Legal age of consent in ____ as of 2015", and look for the website that seems legitimate. The age gap only seems strange to some people because of the 16 year old. If they were 20 and 23, it wouldn't make a difference whatsoever. It's just because of the legal matter, it's typically frowned upon.- but don't let that discourage the two of you from being in a relationship.
