Did I mess up?

-2

My friend just got a hat from his job for being the MVP of the month and I decided to comment “Fake and Gay” I normally joke around like this with him and he knows when I’m joking, but this time he did not take it as a joke. He texted me saying “Why did you post that on my Facebook? It’s not even funny.” I didn’t mean it in a rude way at all I was just kidding around.

Well, it wasn't nice. He shouldn't be expecting you to say that. You have to explain that it was supposed to be a joke and to reveal your honest feelings about that situation.

Just delete the comment, using gay as an insult never gives a good impression of you to people on social networks. You can apologize to your friend but mostly get that negativity off his profile.

we all make mistakes, but you have to own up and apologies to him face to face tell him you didn't mean it like that and you were only joking be sincere to and hopefully he'll forgive you but he may need time so don't expect to be forgiven straight away. and a little hint when your on FaceBook think before you type. you can't tell weather its a joke or not threw text alone.

It doesn't seem as much of a big deal if you consider the intention behind it. Just delete the comment and apologize, explaining that it was just a not-so-well-thought joke.

Usually, it's not what you say, but rather HOW you say it. However, gay is not something that should ever be used as an insult or a derogatory comment. Perhaps you should keep that in mind for the next time you want to make a joke.
