Being wanted?

So I have this best friend. I’m a girl and he’s a guy and he’s a year older than me and he has a girlfriend who is in college in another state. All of these add up to quite a bit of high school gossip. After a club we are in together we almost always sit together and he puts his arm around me and I lay my head on him and we just talk until my parents come get me then we hug (sometimes it’s the second time we hug that day) and then text for hours when we get home until we fall asleep. Everyone thinks we arer more than just friends, in fact you might think that we are more than friends. But we definitely aren’t. We are just really good friends and he knows I’m depressed so he knows that when he hugs me and puts his arm around me I really like it and feel wanted. Does that make sense? I just want to feel wanted….

It makes perfect sense. He's your friend and he's supporting you. You just want to feel like someone cares, like someone wants you around and wants to hang out with you. It's human nature to want to be wanted, included, etc. Ignore what everyone else says; tongues will wag because they have nothing better to do with their time. They are undeserving of the time you give them by worrying over it - I would encourage you to stop wasting more of your precious time on that ;)
