Back Sliding

I was in a really bad place and my depression and anxiety where really getting the better of me. But I made a lot of strides towards being okay over the last year. Then recently things have been getting really hard again, when I got a suicide note in my email it became the straw that broke the camels back. Now I am losing all of the progress I had made. I don’t want to start from the beginning again, how do I stop myself mid fall?

It all starts with changing the way you see things, your perspective, everything might be falling around you but that doesnt mean you have to fall along with it. I know keeping a positive attitude is really hard, it takes practice, but you've made it before and you can do it again. Things will always reach a point where they seem to be completely wrong, but everything has a solution, i assure you. Try venting, surround yourself with positive things, your environment is a major factor when it comes to the way you see things.

Focus on the positive side. Stop telling yourself that you're falling back down. Instead, take steps to come back up, and tell yourself that you are on your way up. Like Cheap Trick said, it's all about perspective. If you are scared of falling back down, it consumes your thoughts, and chances are, you will fall. But if you block out this idea of of failure, and tell yourself that you can make it, you will. Treat yourself, and remind yourself of your strengths. Talk to loved ones. Nothing wrong with seeing a counselor too if it helps. Remember how you climbed out of your hole the first time, and keep doing what you did.
