Yes, some people do it before sleeping, or just plain fall asleep during it. But as you keep at it, you will find that you’ll be able to use it to summon detachment to the chaos of life during the day. At least with vipassana.
Yes meditation works. it makes my life better. For me the best time of the day sometimes is meditation time
