I haven’t posted here in almost 2 years. I’ve been seeking professional counseling at my college for social anxiety/depression for the last year and a half. It’s been really helpful, but I’m still struggling in school, sitting through lectures, talking with teachers, and I have pretty much no friends here (not for lack of trying). I’ve been debating whether to get a prescribed medication, just to make this last year of college more bearable, but I’m worried about the side effects. It’s something I’m talking about with my counselor though.

Today its college, tomorrow its workplace. Can’t keep medicating yourself forever.
If its really THAT BIG of an issue, then why not take a semester break. And dedicate it to practicing your social skills. And learn from the experiences of socially confident and popular people, and copy them for 6 months. I can understand a part of you being afraid to do that, and a part of you wanting to go high lengths to solve this important issue. Spending ’that’ much time on a certain skill can easily make you an expert at it.
Then, when you go back to your college, with better social skills. You can have people who would call you their friend, and people who value you, and some who would admire you, and some who would come to you for help, and some who you can go for help. And you can take all this amazing network of people to be with you, throughout your future. Won’t that be super nice!?

    • @suiei that’s very nice to hear!
