@masquerader000 have you had any appointment with a health professional in that area? Telling your parents, nothing wrong with that. You shouldn’t ”throw” the word ”depression” cause many people don’t get it, but explain to them how you truly need help. About antidepressants… take them in the LAST case. Many people get addicted and many of them can affect your health really badly, is why you can’t just ”want” them. Most people with depression change their lifes like working out (which helps alot btw!), eating healthy and focousing on having alot of positivity. Because antidepressants won’t fix everything , it won’t fix your whole life. So summary: try to explain to them but PLEASE get a proper diagnosis before you beg for such hardcore and dangerous medication

Have you been diagnosed with depression? I’ve never told my parents about my mental health and how I’m taking anti depressants. My dad found out from a friend so I have spoken to him about it. I wrote many letters that I planned on giving to my parents, maybe you could try that? Sometimes it’s easier to write everything down than to speak it out loud. As for wanting anti depressants, I would try other things first. They have definitely helped me, but they don’t help everyone. I’m currently in the process of coming off my anti depressants, and it’s difficult. It’s not something to start unless you really need it as you could end up taking them for a long time.
