It works, I like the scuffing. No, it’s definitely not a myth, I’ve seen it come into play a lot of times. It people feel less damaged when they have someone else who’s damaged to take care of. Hence the reason so many therapists have messed up personal lives.

Yeah, I have a friend with a messed up personal life who wants to be a therapist, so it works both ways there.

Impressive. I won’t ask into it since I consider that kind of thing confidential when I end up talking to someone about these things, but might I ask if they ’broke down’ so to say, or simply talked a lot?
Neither. I built trust quickly, and then because I was still new and they didn’t have a lot of emotion invested in me, I’d follow up on some point that was briefly mentioned that led to the issues, get down to it, and then they’d either open up entirely, or give me more information piecewise as I worked for it.
