Okay…Now moving on…Why the heck on earth was my last ID(botmun) deleted without any prior warning?
IMHO it’s better if it’s posted publicly, so we can say that it’s not ok that you would threaten somebody with a temporary ban for calling out someone saying abusive things privately to another user. I agree that huggable cactus and silent rain kept answering to michael18′s counter-smear campaign and fueled the argument, but this putting…[Read more]
@huggable-cactus What you and @rinsenadrep are saying is really nice. Personally I don’t think Huggable Cactus should be on that watchlist. And what are you going to do with the existing spammers?
@theripper
The measure of disabling new user signup will force the spam units to use their existing accounts already within the system. As those accounts are used to spam and give themselves away, they will be deleted.
So deleting the users one by one? Well that’s not exactly efficient.
Most spammers are known to use bot programs, which does all the work for them, what are you going to do when you re-enable the user signup and they go back to their old ways?
@theripper
In the absence of comprehensive software to target spammers, we are left with the measure of deleting them one-by-one. We use what means are available to us. It is likely that we will move to manual user registration at some point in the near future to prevent spammers from getting it.
So why not just get the software?
@theripper
Easier said than done.
Not if you want to keep your customers happy it’s not.
