To put it simply-Some have said the truly psychotic are possesed.I know it for most psy majors this is old school thinking before we knew and studied as we do now. But I’m just curious because after hearing honestly from a mental illness psy, who believed that the unexplained and truly raw cases of psychotic killers could not be explained through science, it made me wonder. Anyone believe that not all mental illness can be explained through science?

I’ve never heard of anyone blaming mental illness on paranormal causes. Frankly if someone suggested it I wouldn’t take them seriously.

In the old days from a century ago and further back yes, people thought the mentally ill were possessed by devils and such and were usually locked away and sometimes starved to death.
