I already know how to avoid this based on what happened but me and my friend were staying at the hotel that the con was hosted in and we had been chatting to these guys who had awesome costumes and my friend gave them her phone number so we could catch up with them later. The next day we were getting constant calls, they had somehow found out what room we were in in the hotel and came knocking on our doors and brought a whole bunch of their friends in. Now we were young and it was only the second con we had been to, but there is nothing more mortifying than watching you costumes be trodden on and tossed aside by a stampede of teenage boys. we promptly called security and they were escorted out, but still, very jarring.

Basically, don’t give numbers, take them.

My worst con is a very distinct memory. I cosplay Lady Deadpool almost constantly, and I’m really proud of it now as I’ve been working on for over a year, but at the beginning. Not so much. At Evillecon of 2013 literally everything went wrong. All I had by the time the con came around was my morphsuit and belt. It was awful, worse than that?: I actually wore it, which, looking back on it, makes me cringe a shit ton. To make matters worse it was just an all around horrible time. Certain things happened that I wouldn’t like to mention, but I ended up crying under one of staircases of the hotel for about 2 hours on Saturday because I had nothing better to do. Not a fun time.

The first and only time I’ve been to a con, my then best friend invited me. After we got in, she found her group of friends, and told me to quit following her. I wandered around for an hour, and called my sister to pick me up, because my best friend had been my ride, too.

How to avoid this situation- stop hanging around with terrible people.
