Sadima a young girl is the protagonist in the story of the past and is rediscovering magic with a slave whom she is falling madly in love with and his master.

Haph is a young boy and the protagonist in the story of the future where magic has been restored and is fighting for his sanity and life while attending the only school for magicians in existence. He has to cope with starvation and the promise of death as it was said on the very first day of school that only 1 boy would survive to become a magician or NONE at all.
