What makes you happy?

I’ve been asking myself this question for a while and I can’t seem to find the answer within myself, so I’m curious as to what others enjoy.

The simple moments in life. I'm a nanny to five kids and when the littlest one - 3 mos. - smiles at me all gums and goofy, my heart melts. I love chasing them around, playing goofy games, listening to their wild stories...

But when I'm at home, I enjoy quiet time. I love cooking and it makes me happy (especially when I am making chocolate chip cookies from scratch - that smell alone can always bring a smile to my face!) I am happy around my family and friends, provided they check their drama and baggage at the door, and could spend literally hours with them talking about nothing in particular.

I think I am happiest of all when I take my dog out on one of my favorite hiking trails out in a local State park. Being outside, surrounded by the subtle noises of the forest... I feel completely free, all of my stress melts away, and I am truly at peace inside.

my friends, my little brother and sister and my older ones, buying new clothes (even it's just for a mini second), laying in my onesie in front of the fireplace with hot chocolate next to me, going to the beach at night, long walks through the forrest in spring, bike rides, hugs

I get excited when I learn something new. Reading, watching documentaries. But the thing is, I don't tell anyone. I am surrounded by jocks, and I don't want to be seen as a 'girlie girl'.

My biggest source of joy and happiness comes from my relationship with Jesus Christ. People here will all die eventually. Enjoy them as much as you can, but don't depend on them as your source of happiness. Material things can be lost, broken, stolen, worn out, and at the very end of your days, you can't take them with you. Jesus is eternal. No death. He took care of that. He's my rock, my shield, my fortress, my joy, my light, my life, and my healer. Being in the presence of The Lord rejuvenates me. I cast all my cares upon him, because he cares for me. I'm not trying to convert you, but He is my joy and could be your joy as well if you choose to make him so.
