What are some good ways to deal with depression?

Get off the computer. If you are a computer addict, that is my most valuable advice for you. You may think the Internet helps, and it may in short doses, but extended periods are not good for anyone. It's time to get out of the house! I know instinctively you probably want to stay inside, but that's the depression talking. Get outside- fight it- go for a walk and take nice photos on your phone, meet some friends, window shop, walk your dog if you have one. Be a tourist in your own city. Focus on your external surroundings, not your inner monologue. Give yourself happy, fun experiences. That will help fight the depression. Music can help, but again, try not to drown out the depression with it for extended periods because it can also keep you in your own head and music is shown to influence mood negatively if you listen to sad music. On the flip side, happy, upbeat music can make you feel better- so update your music library with the some upbeat songs. Don't feel bad if you really need to take a day for yourself- laying in bed, not talking to anyone- that's alright, recharge, but don't laze around. Only recharge. Limit this recharging to a day and then get back into it. I hope this helps. x EDIT: Oh, and make sure you're eating enough if one of your symptoms is loss of appetite. Not having energy is going to drop your moods even lower. x

Do something that makes you happy or put you in a calm state. Like either hanging with friends, listening to music, or even going on a drive. I go thru depression and music is my key out.
