I tend to be a couch potato too, do you have some home cardio machines laying around? Exercise is less tedious if you watch tv during it. ;) And eventually, you get your stamina ready to actually go out to run, with confidence. People buy them and never use them, until they sell them, so you can check for some deals at garage sales or craiglist.
This for keeping your body active, for dieting, sadly, you got to... diet, and there's not much difference for couch potatoes.

Its good to hear that you care about your health and well being because your body is the most important thing.. right? well anyways, I think you know that your the only one that can make yourself change your habits and that no one is going to do it for you. But there are some things that motivated me in the past when I was not motivated at all and maybe they can help motivate you some. First is the simple thought of being the best you can be. You owe it to yourself to be the best you can be. That does NOT mean looking like a VS model or running a marathon.. every one is different. It just means that your treating your body well and your getting rewards from it. We only get one body so why wouldn't you want it to look, feel, and perform the best it can? Also remember the simple fact that food is meant to FUEL us. Its not there as a reward or a gift.. Of course you should never deprive yourself of good tasting food but remember to listen to your body.. does that food really make you feel good or does it just taste good? Another thing is that progress is progress no matter how small. Set little goals that you know you can reach and eventually all those little goals will end up being something huge! Reaching your goal is always so empowering and motivating! Last one I will say is kind of silly but I exercise/eat right because I want to be the hottest girlfriend to my boyfriend and the biggest regret to all those guys who let me go! hahaha :) hope this helps some! good luck!

I feel like when all external sources of motivation including motivational videos, encouragement, or self gratification all fail then the will to get up and accomplish your goals is to put yourself in a dire situation. What I mean by that is force yourself out of your comfort zone while putting yourself in a "sink or swim" situation. If you are in a situation where you have no choice but to "swim" then you'll do it without hesitation. How you go about emulating this situation is up to you entirely as well. You could maybe stop buying sweets and high fat/caloric food so that when you're hungry you have no choice but to eat the healthy foods in your fridge and as for exercise...find a way to be forced to do it! When you find a good routine and get a good rhythm then you can stop using the "sink or swim" method as by now you should be able to do things consciously by choice.

You can always find an exercise you enjoy even if it's just dancing around by yourself while listening to music. Make it fun. Make it something you look forward to. There's so many options out there. Same goes for recipes. There are so many blogs that teach you how to make healthy recipes that taste really good. And trust me, once you start eating the healthy stuff, the junk food pretty much tastes like what it is - junk. Smoothies and juicing are another great way of getting your nutrition in because it's fast and easy. Check out Pinterest. There are plenty of ideas on there as well. One healthy choice tends to lead to more healthy choices so don't beat yourself up over one little mistake and use that as permission to go into a downward spiral. You can always come back from it.

Realize that when you get older, you can either be the stiff, hunched over, withered old person who didn't take care of their bodies throughout their lives, or the active retirees going on cruises and walking their dogs.
