Smoking is not an appropriate way to get rid of stress. You would simply be substituting one problem for another. Smokers often report that cigarettes help relieve feelings of stress. However, the stress levels of adult smokers are slightly higher than those of nonsmokers, adolescent smokers report increasing levels of stress as they develop regular patterns of smoking, and smoking cessation leads to reduced stress. Far from acting as an aid for mood control, nicotine dependency seems to exacerbate stress. This is confirmed in the daily mood patterns described by smokers, with normal moods during smoking and worsening moods between cigarettes. Thus, the apparent relaxant effect of smoking only reflects the reversal of the tension and irritability that develop during nicotine depletion. Dependent smokers need nicotine to remain feeling normal.

There are always better alternatives, some may not work but just keep trying until you find something that helps distract you from or relieve the pain. Explore your passions, make time for yourself every day. Writing and drawing/painting/art in general are great outlets! Next time you have the urge to cut, try drawing on yourself with red ink in lines across your skin. You'll know it's ink, but a part of your brain will register it as the blood it was expecting, and that sense of temporary contentment should follow. Wishing you all the best, darling!

Have you tried working out instead? That actually produces endorphins which help with stress and it burns away fat on top of that.

Don't try to smoke just a way to relieve stress, try punching a pillow or journaling? Even little things help to relieve stress that's healthier. Smoking can cause you really bad problems in the future so don't do it please :/

Sometimes chewing gum is a good way to keep from smoking. Also, art, music, anything to channel out your energy would help with the cutting. Hang in there
