As human beings, we usually feel more connected to other people when we suffer together, so that's maybe why a lot of people tend to care more when other people suffer or express their sadness. People living a highly stressing situation together (let's say two people surviving a plane crash), compared to people living a very positive situation (let's say two people winning the lottery), the negative situation will bring people together more than the other one. I guess it's part of our individualism, but it might also be why we perceive positive stuff as less entertaining. Jealousy also probably plays a part. "You're happy, why am I not? This is unfair!" boohoo. Well, in any ways, we all have the capacity to be positive and have happy thoughts and share them with other people and enjoy ourselves, but we're blinded by our individualism and our fear of sharing information about ourselves. Well that's just a theory, but I'd be up to your "question" as long as we don't talk about the weather.
