I think I have depression..

I think I have depression, but I haven’t told anyone. Not because I have trust issues, but because I don’t know how to bring it up. I need help with telling someone, please.

I would suggest talking with your doctor because it sounds as though you are a bit unsure. It would be best to talk about how you have been feeling lately, and the possible causes of your depression, how long have you felt these feelings, and if wether or not you would like to take medicine, do therapy or both. I have depression and I have talked to a therapist. And it isnt easy at times to live with it. But talk to someone you trust.

I agree with Parmelee. It is hard to know for sure if it is clinical depression or just a local occurrence, and possible treatment hinges on the diagnosis. As for telling someone, I would try to pick a friend or family member that has had history of depression themselves. I usually talk to my mother; I inherited. When you talk to somebody who either has depression or has dealt with it in the past they will likely understand a lot of how it feels. Being depressed doesn't necessarily mean that you are completely debilitated either; it can really suck sometimes, but really it isn't anything to be ashamed of. I wish you luck!

I agree with the above two answers. If you do speak to your doctor, try and get a referral for a therapist and/or psychiatrist. I would not let your doctor prescribe you medication for depression but rather seek out a psychiatrist to do so. (If you decide on medication at all, that is.) Did anything trigger this feeling or has it been building/is it chronic? Either way, I agree with Parmelee. Try to find someone to talk to who can understand what you're going through. Stay strong x
