I really don't have enough information to know best how to help you, but maybe a part of the problem is judging people based on observations before you really do get to know them.
Your first impression of a person is almost always wildly inaccurate and sometimes literally bears not a single similarity to who they really are. It might be a good idea to just approach people and try to find out who they are.
Some people are more open and easily approachable than others. For instance, I gave a couple hours of my time at a soup kitchen once and the people who I served changed quite a bit in my mind over the course of that time. Because of my act of giving to them, many shared with me their own stories. I learned that many of these people were rather amazing human beings, even though they are often looked down on as if they were inferior. My advice? Give people a chance. They'll often surprise you.
