How do I ask for therapy?

0

How do I casually ask my parents for a therapist. I’ve had depression and anxiety for a while now. Multiple years. My friends have similar problems and are starting to get help, and I just want to be happier like they seem. I don’t just want meds, but they would be nice. I need someone to talk to me and tell me what the hell is going on in my head because damn I have no idea.

if you go to school/university/college you could start by nipping in to see them for a few sessions, then let your parents know. either you or the councilor/school nurse could then advise them to take you to a professional, or maybe you will find talking to this person from your school/uni/college every fortnight or so is enough and you dont require to be taken further. hope this helps! :)

Honesty, honesty, honesty... I've been in the same place, I believe the best thing you can do is sit down with your parents and explain that you have been feeling depressed and have had anxiety for quite some time now, and how you feel you'd really benefit from going to therapy. Also before I'd recommend researching some therapists in your area, and narrowing it down to a couple you're interested in. Really its best to just tell your parents your true feelings and hopefully they'll understand and help you on the right path.I hope it all goes well, message me any time if you need to!
