Has anyone else ever lost weight on birth control?

Birth control has a bad reputation for making people gain weight or making it harder to lose weight, but when I was on it I lost weight. Like a lot.
And before you ask, no I wasn’t doing anything better than I was before. In fact I was being even less healthy. I was eating pizza multiple times a week and drinking regularly, but I still lost almost 20 pounds! I was overweight to begin with so this wasn’t a problem (I’m 4’10″ and went from about 128 pounds to 110 pounds). The nurses at the health department thought I was anorexic. I started taking birth control because it’s supposed to help with “lady problems.” I used to have horrific periods. They were ridiculously heavy and long, and so painful that sometimes I would vomit, and they were somewhat irregular. But birth control made it SO much better. Plus the weight loss wasn’t bad either. Haha But once I stopped taking it, I gained all the weight back.
So has anyone else had experience with this? And if so do you know WHY your body responded that way.

One of my friends has this sort of problem. She takes the depo shot every month and it seems to ramp up her metabolism instead of slowing it down. She's lost a ton of weight, but she eats like a horse. So you're not alone. Birth control doesn't affect me either way with weight loss or gain. I have subclinical hypothyroidism so it's hard for me to lose or keep weight off.

hi Marisa! I haven't lost weight during birth control but i think your situation might not be "strange" because birth control regulates your hormones and if you have some hormones problem you can gain weight. anyway i'm not an expert and i suggesto you to ask your doctor but i wouldn't worry :) hope this helped!
