Different ways to control anxiety…?

0

I have a few different ways to try control my anxiety but the ones I try never seem to work, e.g. laying down, listening to breathing, relaxing, keeping a diary…

What are some ways other people use to control their anxiety/panic attacks?

Breathing, breathing, breathing. Also, try to focus on something else, but if you try focusing on something else very intensely, then you will only help contribute to higher stress levels causing the anxiety to worsen. You might just have to continue experimenting. Try listening to music instead, going for a walk(it doesn't have to be long), playing with a family pet such as a dog or cat. Basically whenever you start feeling pretty stressed out, try doing something you enjoy rather than just ignore what your body is telling you and letting it build up.I hope that helps!

This is what I do for my anxiety attacks
1. Sit down on the floor
2. Take off my shoes (If I have any on)
3. Squeeze something (Whether it be a hand, my shirt, a stress ball)
4. Focus on something in particular. Usually I focus on trying to pick out the individual strokes of my nail polish.
5. Close my eyes and just breathe.
It will be okay. You're going to find methods that work for you in particular. Everyone has their different quirks and coping methods. On a regular day by day basis I write a bit of poetry as a healthier way of letting off my emotions. That's just what my therapist suggested and it's worked thus far. I really wish you luck, and if you need any further advice please message me any time. I've been dealing with anxiety issues for a few years.
