I don’t understand why people get upset because I’m down about not having as good of a grade as I want. I got a 94 when I expected a 98, and there were even 5 points extra credit! You have your goals and I have mine. And my goals were not reached. I’m allowed to feel however I want to feel about it, you know? You’re the one who asked about my grades, I didn’t just start crying,”I got a 94! I suck! I’m so stupid!” I just sat in a room. And then you asked. Oi. Troi oi. I can’t deal.

    Mood : Annoyed

    • Well that’s because everyone out there has different expectations from themselves. Your getting depressed over getting 94 might come off as a surprise to someone who has barely passed but is nevertheless satisfied with his performance. I bet most of the people around you haven’t had such high standards for them as far as examinations are concerned. In that regards it is understandable for them to feel that you are overreacting. Those with talents or with overly high expectations from themselves sometimes come off as a bother for the people around them. Not saying that you need to change yourself or the others are plain stupid. It’s just that you are different form the people who got upset with you because you were feeling down and there’s no point in getting annoyed about it.
On a side note: worrying about grades is not wrong but I believe that getting depressed enough for the people around you to notice it is kind of inappropriate. You should strive to get more marks without letting yourself get overly depressed over momentary failures like these.

To give you an idea of what you friends feel it might be handy to use an analogy. Imagine that you being an average earning person meet a friend of yours who is depressed over the fact that he only has 10 billion dollars but he wanted 15. You should lose your cool if people different from you are not able to understand your goals. Atleast they were concerned about you and wanted to know the cause of your sorrow. They didn’t mean any harm.
      Have a good day!
