Cecelia, Sometimes when we are self conscious, or insecure in ourselves, we project it onto others. Have you tried a face to face, sit down talk with this person? They may very well just be projecting. I wouldn’t have accepted friendship from you if I didn’t think you were capable of greatness. Take a step back, evaluate, adjust, and succeed, you’ve got this!

It can be very frustrating when other people don’t have faith in you, but you’ve pointed out the important thing in the matter: you trust in yourself and know you are capable of achieving your goals.
