What if he actually does that to you? How are you prepared for that? . For-example, Having the fear that my wife (hypothetically speaking) might leave me. I would use that fear to treat her in a way, that she wouldn’t want to leave me. I would treat her in a way, that she would be satisfied with me being her husband, I would treat her in a way that she would feel comfortable around me, and feel open to talk to me, and so on… All of my preparation, is credited to that ’fear’. That ’fear’ allowed me to prepare myself mentally and better myself. . Similarly, your mum is just asking you to be cautious. What are you doing to make sure that your bf won’t do the same to you? No seriously, just like I prepared myself (in the example). You may want to figure out a way to prepare yourself (to secure your future). Makes sense?
