You know what I hate most about job hunting? You have to lie. It’s probably not the same for everyone, but it seems like the only way you can even be considered is if you exaggerate your strengths and downplay your weaknesses to make yourself appear better than you really are. It’s kinda hard to do that when you don’t really have strengths worthy of said position.. And why do they ask you why you want the job? You can probably safely assume that they’re doing it so that they can earn some cash. It’s possible that they’re passionate about the position, but.. it’s minimum wage. I doubt anyone would really work a job that pays minimum wage unless they needed the money. If I were to be completely honest, I’d tell them that I’m just looking for something to bring a little meaning in my life. That getting this job would be a small step that might hopefully lead me to better things in the future. And I’d tell them that I really don’t know why they should pick me for the position. I’ve never worked here, how would I know if I’m any good? And no matter how good I am for the position, I guarantee there’s someone out there who’s better. I really don’t know why you should pick me. I’d work free for a week on a trial basis, and you can tell me what YOU think. I know it’s sort of against the law, but I don’t care. I asked for it. Just slap a ’volunteer’ label on it, no one has to know. And if at the end of the week you decide I’m not right for the job, so be it. Thank you for your time. Why isn’t that a thing? #useless #rant
